Malaysia, truly Asia. This is their slogan and really makes sense. The mix of Malay, Chinese and Hindu is easy to identify in everyday’s life.
Being an international hub, Kuala Lumpur is easy to reach from Europe, specially since Malaysian Airways have acquired the most modern A380 and if you have the chance to fly business is definitely worth it! As expected, we had a wonderful and relaxing flight, nice lunch and dinner and good music and films on board.
Just when we landed in Kuala Lumpur we realised it was a vibrant city and I loved it at first sight!
We stayed at the GRAND HYATT KUALA LUMPUR 5* and… it was amazing! Newly opened in august 2012, it has the best views over the Petronas’ twin towers and it’s just PERFECT: nice spacious rooms, smart furniture, excellent service, latest technology… just a dream for a meeting planner!
We were welcomed as VIPs and offered a fresh orchid garland… a very nice detail!
This hotel also boasts a wonderful restaurant overlooking the skyline and a nice big ballroom for corporate events and gala dinners… under thousands of leds.
And the rooms are splendid, they really are even better than the pictures in the web! I had a superior room, and it was really good…so imagine how the suites look like!
The next day we visited an hindu temple, welcomed by the priest, we walked up 263 stairs to visit the temple in a wonderful cave and it was nice seeing the local monkeys. We really had a nice time, enjoying hindu dances, coconut water and…friendship.
And after this cultural visit, we were surprised by an experience…we visited Royal Selangor, nº 1 pewter fabric in the world. Personally received by the owner, a fantastic and incredible aged woman that impressed me because of her kindness, intelligence, young spirit …She was so positive, enthusiastic and passionate about her work..that I just desired to be like her…one day…
The entrance was spectacular…all hand in the wall correspond to those workers with more than 5 years at Royal Selangor…hundreds!
We were invited to create our own pewter bowl…not as easy as we imagined!
Lunch was also an experience…with 3 surprises: henna tattoos, our name in Chinese and hand reading…followed by a wonderful SPA session at The RITZ hotel…we were really grateful…these are good ideas to pumper our clients after a long flight…
Fine dinning in Kuala Lumpur is easy and exotic as they mix Malayan, Chinese and Hindu cuisine…we loved specially the place chosen by the Malaysan Convention Bureau..a wonderful restaurant in a huge tropical garden. Chinese shades show performed during dinner to make it even more special and memorable…and for our fist day, the experience was great.
Next day we flow to the north, to Penang, by the coast .It’s nice being received with drums!
At the E.O hotel 5*, we enjoyed a nice local lunch.
And we also visited Penang..under the sun! Even having preffered to lye by the pool, we went to see the city…as we need to see everything before proposing you anything! We started at the Chinese area… and then we moved to the hindu quartier…
3 hours later we arrived to our hotel. We were hosted by Shangrila’s Penang, right by the beach
After 2h site inspection, visiting all rooms, meeting facilities, spa and gardens, we enjoyed a wonderful BBQ…under the stars and a heavy rain!
Good morning! More ideas: Treasure hunt in Penang..we were team nº 1! A nice way to discover the city… We had to go through funny tests and tried always to be the bests.
This authentic Chinese villa can be rented for events and private gala dinners…
The spices garden was paradise, full of exotic plants we had never seen before…a good idea to add into a program.
But the best was about to come…a wonderful COOKING EXPERIENCE guided by one of the bestMalayan recognized chefs…visit his blog OLIVEN SPICES …and try not to miss this experience, it was funny, interesting and tasteful!
